River Description

The South Fork of the American River in the Coloma / Lotus River Valley is a Class III river.

Chosen and rafted by thousands annually for its convenient location, ease of access, great whitewater, one and two day rafting options as well as the history rich environment.

The AWA campsite is a private 6.5 acre parcel on the bank of the American River just miles from the James Marshall Gold Discovery site and State Park.

Action Whitewater offers you the best experiences to be had on the river: best staff, best gear, best foods. We’re stoked to share the river’s beauty and challenges with our guests.

You can choose from two day trips where you’ll raft the whole 21-miles of river over the course of two days. During your stay you’ll enjoy two gourmet deli style lunches that please vegetarians and meat lovers alike, an incredible steak and chicken dinner, camping in our private campground replete with hot water showers and flushable toilets, campfire and a full course hot breakfast all made and served riverside.

One day ½ river trips are available as well, for those visitors who are on the go. You’ll still have the experience of seeing the majesty of a river canyon as well as that incredible deli styled lunch.

Trip Experiences continued

During solid river flows, we offer the full river experience. This is long day wherein hearty paddlers tackle all 21-miles in one go, stopping for that much needed deli styled lunch.
